Codon One

Our DNA has a significant impact on our health and on our lives. A single letter change in our genetic material can make a difference between a healthy individual or someone with a severe, life-threatening disease. Similarly, a single mutation can determine whether someone carries an average cancer risk or faces an elevated threat. It can also dictate how an individual responds to a particular medication — transforming an easily tolerated remedy into a potential risk.

With such an impact, one would think that genetics plays an important role in healthcare. Unfortunately, that's not the case. At least, not yet.

With ever lowering prices for DNA sequencing, powerful computers and the advent of gene therapy, we are on the verge of a genomic revolution. We envision a future in which most rare genetic conditions can be diagnosed – currently we're at only 45%.

We dream of a future in which genetic data informs medical decisions at every stage of people's life. Such a future would drastically reduce healthcare costs and more importantly: it would improve and save lives.

This revolution won't be possible with the current infrastructure and software though.

At Codon One, we are on a mission to develop the software and infrastructure that will seamlessly integrate genomics into mainstream medicine. As we pave the way for groundbreaking advancements, we seek passionate interns and students to join our dynamic team.
