Our Fixed Networks (FN) business group provides an array of “gigabit to the home” solutions to deliver data access to our communication service provider (CSP) customers. This includes Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) as well as 5G fixed wireless access (FWA), xDSL and cable upgrades. We build solutions that don’t stop at the home but also bring that gigabit experience into the home using our meshed Wi-Fi solution.

What you will learn and contribute to:

The general purpose of this position is: That you contribute to the development of real time embedded software for our existing and new-to-be-developed hardware platforms and more in particular the forwarding layer That you contribute to the development of cloud based applications That you help bring our product innovations and evolutions to the market faster and at higher quality than the competition as part of a multi-disciplinary agile team of senior experts and supported by state-of-the-art development and test technologies, tools and processes

Your main Responsibility Area:

You help clarify customer requirements You contribute to feature estimations and planning You design SW architecture (i.e. definition of modules, classes, interfaces, task priorities, concurrent access,…) You design generic SW running on different processor architectures: single/multiple core, Arm, MIPS, PPC, … You validate software on target as well as using a host simulation model and assures validation can run in an automated regressions, knowledge op Python and Robot is a plus. You are co-accountable for the long-term quality of the software delivered and testware You help others in meeting the team objectives You interact with project managers to give regular updates of identified issues

Your tasks will exist (but not be limited to) of:

Writing C / C++ code, make files, scripts, … Removing memory leaks by using commercial tools Writing test cases that validate their written code, and automate them Estimating and measuring the consumed CPU cycles and on-board memor Troubleshoot software on target hardware and in a simulation environment

Your skills and experience:

  • You have an Engineering degree or a degree in Computer Science/ Telecommunications/Electronic (or 5 years of relevant experience). - - -- Graduating candidates are welcome to apply.
  • You have a broad interest in the Telecom sector
  • Your are knowledge of real-time operating system concepts (interrupts, tasks, concurrency, …)
  • You have experience in writing C or C++ programs
  • You have a profound interest and preferably knowledge on cloud concepts
  • You have a genuine interest in new technologies and read/implement internet RFC’
  • Preferably you have also some knowledge of L2 forwarding / L3 protocols and quality of service features
  • You have the ability to work with Unix/Linux (as operating system)
  • You possess a basic knowledge of IP, and/or GPON/U-NGPON technologies
  • While growing in the role, you are able to get an in-depth understanding of new telecommunications protocols and/or Nokia’s hardware platforms, and the way customers are deploying them
  • You have the ability to draw and explain/document your design in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • You have the eagerness and agility to learn fast and be challenged on a daily basis, people describe you as being creative and highly efficient and an “out-of-the-box” thinker
  • You thrive when handling complex systems and projects and you have no problems taking on (in the beginning shared) responsibilities
  • You love working in a multicultural environment
